I was going to send a note to the company expressing how much I love this airgun, but decided to write a review instead (my first). Bottom line? If you enjoy shooting BB guns and just want to have fun, run, don't walk, to the nearest store and get one. You won't be able to put it down. It just feels right. Shoots great. Surprisingly accurate (like that's what you look for in a machine gun). The sales clerk told me the chief complaint was that it used a lot of CO2. It really doesn't. It uses a lot of BBs! You go through both fast, but that's because you pushing 50 BBs downrange in less than 30 seconds. I get about 3 1/2 to 4 clips (150-200 rounds) per 2 CO2 loads. That's good for any gun. It will actually run on one CO2 cartridge if you only want to shoot one or two clips. But seriously, you won't care. I spend more time looking for fun things to plink. It will literally cut a soda can in half.
My only ... not complaints, but observations... are 1)You have to really cinch the CO2 down, or it won't puncture both cartridges (that's how I figured out it will run on one); 2) Like a knucklehead, I tried to clean the clip with carb cleaner like we did in the service. Unfortunately, the bb track in the clip is plastic and melted a bit. But I was able to disassemble the clip and sand it back to working order. Just beware- no chemicals on the clip; 3) As noted elsewhere, the sling mount comes on the left side of the weapon, when nearly all were on the right so it wouldn't interfere with the charging bolt in combat. But, like the original, it's reversible. So easy fix.
Summary: I'd love to have an original MP-40. But not having $30,000 laying around, this more than satisfies the craving.
Keep up the great work Umarex/Legends! How about an affordable clip loaded CO2 K98? :-) Or an MG-34?!?
